PackageDescription | DigiKam is an advanced digital photo management application for KDE. Photos can be collected into albums which can be sorted chronologically, by directory layout or by custom collections. DigiKam also provides tagging functionality. Images can be tagged despite of their position and digiKam provides fast and intuitive ways to browse them. User comments and customized meta-information added to images, are stored into a database and retrieved to make them available into the user interface. As soon as the camera is plugged in digikam allows you to preview, download, upload and delete images. Digikam also includes tools like Image Editor, to modify photos using plugins such as red eye correction or Gamma correction, exif management,... Light Table to make artistic photos and an external image editor such as Showfoto. Digikam also uses KIPI plugins (KDE Image Plugin Interface) to increase its functionalities. |

PackageDescription | Color Management System, calibrator and profiler Argyll is an experimental, open source, ICC compatible color management system. It supports accurate ICC profile creation for scanners, CMYK printers, film recorders and calibration and profiling of displays. Spectral sample data is supported, allowing a selection of illuminants observer types, and paper fluorescent whitener additive compensation. Profiles can also incorporate source specific gamut mappings for perceptual and saturation intents. Gamut mapping and profile linking uses the CIECAM02 appearance model, a unique gamut mapping algorithm, and a wide selection of rendering intents. It also includes code for the fastest portable 8 bit raster color conversion engine available anywhere, as well as support for fast, fully accurate 16 bit conversion. Device color gamuts can also be viewed and compared using a VRML viewer. |

PackageDescription | Rawstudio is a highly specialized application for processing RAW images from digital cameras. It is not a fully featured image editing application. The RAW format is often recommended to get the best quality out of digital camera images. The format is specific to cameras and cannot be read by most image editing applications. Rawstudio makes it possible to read and manipulate RAW images, experiment with the controls to see how they affect the image, and finally export into JPEG, PNG or TIF format images from most digital cameras. |

PackageDescription | spreadsheet-like graphical image manipulation tool nip2 is a graphical front end to the VIPS package. . VIPS is an image processing system designed with efficiency in mind. It is good with large images (ones that larger than the amount of RAM in your machine), and for working with colour. It can perform many image manipulation tasks much faster than other packages such as ImageMagick and the GIMP and includes some special features such as creating single "mosaic" images from multiple parts. . VIPS consists of two main components: an image processing library with some command-line tools and a spreadsheet-like graphical user interface. This package supplies the graphical interface. . With nip2, rather than directly editing images, you build relationships between objects in a spreadsheet-like fashion. When you make a change somewhere, nip2 recalculates the objects affected by that change. Since it is demand-driven this update is very fast, even for very, very large images. nip2 is very good at creating pipelines of image manipulation operations. It is not very good for image editing tasks like touching up photographs. For that, a tool like the GIMP should be used instead. |
