The pcmcia-modules-<kernel version> package contains the drivers that were compiled from this package's source. The kernel-pcmcia-modules-<kernel version> package contains the drivers that compiled from the (version 2.4 or later) kernel source. . Since version 2.4 (and later) kernels have their own drivers, they can be built with their own PCMCIA support. Nevertheless, this package or the hotplug package is still required to load and unload drivers on demand. . The ifupdown package can be used to configure PCMCIA network interfaces. The wireless-tools package is required by many wireless network adapters. The hotplug package is required by 2.4 (and later) series kernels to use PCI (Cardbus) devices.
